Graduation 1972

On Saturday evening June 24th after Hurricane Agnes had dumped inches of rain, raising the already high water table of Pondfield Road to flood stage, the class of 1972 became the 50th graduating class of the Bronxville High School. Decked out in the traditional commencement uniform, fortunately for all the skies cleared in time for outdoor photos and a reception around the flagpole. That evening Dr. Braun, Superintendent of schools referred to our class as "outstanding" and Principal Spenik reported that 95% of the class would be moving on to college in the fall. The commencement speaker, Mr. Robert Eunson, a.k.a. Lisa's dad, reminded us of what we had grown up with, "Leave it to Beaver", a Moon landing, Vietnam, Biafra and pollution in an instant world "in a front row seat and we  watched it all at dinner in living color." Interestingly he characterized the world of our youth "as  push-button, over-organized,and  impersonal." Well it's been almost 40 years since that night and we've moved from push-buttons to a swipe of the screen, we hold our calendars, contacts, notes, and the Internet in our pockets, and we've developed a new sense of connecting with each other through social media. We have been able to account for almost all of the 118 people that stood on that stage 40 years ago and have been able to reconnect with many of them through this website.
